  • What is My Synergy and how can it help me?
    In technical terms, synergy is the interaction of elements, that when combined, produces a total effect that is greater than elements as individuals. Our bodies are a vast combination of elements that over time, can become isolated from one another, particularly from exercise. My Synergy strives to restore your body's natural synergy to improve your performance and your wellbeing.
  • Do you offer any gym advice or personal training?
    Yes, we do! If you are interested in 1-2-1 personal training, please head over to our personal training page to enquire and we will get in contact within 24 hours.
  • Where can you find us?
    We are located within Fitness First Gym in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. Both members and non-members of the gym are welcome to book, you will be greeted at the ground floor reception and shown to our massage studio for your appointment.   • What treatments do you offer?
    We offer various individual and package bookings starting from £30. Typical bookings cover full body, upper body, or lower body. However all can be adjusted to your needs and wants to ensure you receive the treatment you need for your recovery.
  • What does a session cover?
    Your first session will always include a 10-15 minute assessment to go over your pre massage health form in more detail. This may encompass elements like assessing your posture, conducting movement and resistance evaluations, and asking various questions, all aimed at gaining a deeper insight into how your body functions. Once we have a deeper insight into what we are working on, we will then begin focusing on the areas discussed in order to achieve the goal of a better functioning and pain free body.
  • What is a sports massage, and how can it benefit me?
    A sports massage is a therapeutic technique primarily designed for athletes and active individuals to promote faster recovery from injury, improve athletic performance, and reduce the risk of future injuries. It involves the use of various techniques such as deep tissue massage, stretching, and joint mobilisation. Some potential benefits include improved muscle flexibility, reduced muscle soreness, increased blood flow, reduced risk of injury, improved athletic performance, and faster recovery from workouts or injuries. It can benefit anyone who is physically active or experiencing muscle tension or soreness, but it's important to consult with your healthcare provider before receiving a sports massage if you have any medical conditions or injuries.

    Regardless of your training schedule, occupation, or lifestyle, it is common to experience symptoms of fatigue such as soreness, tiredness, or tension. As a result, sports massage can be beneficial for individuals of all activity levels. This therapeutic technique can help promote healthy blood flow to affected areas, reduce tension, and improve overall physical and mental well-being.
  • What should I do after my massage?
    After a massage, it's important to balance rest with gentle movement to maintain healthy blood flow throughout the body. Adequate hydration is also essential, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids before and especially after your massage. It's best to avoid sugary, caffeinated, and alcoholic beverages as they can contribute to dehydration. Similarly, it's recommended to avoid heavy meals or large quantities of food immediately following a massage, as this can impede the digestive process and lead to discomfort. Consuming a large amount of food after a massage can divert the body's energy away from the healing and recovery process, which may reduce the effectiveness of the massage. Therefore, it's recommended to stick to lighter, healthier meals after a massage to support the body's recovery and promote overall well-being.
  • How often should I get a massage?
    Regular sports massages are important for maintaining optimal physical performance and recovery, regardless of your training schedule or lifestyle. Frequent massages can increase your body's tolerance to massage techniques and pressure, reducing discomfort and soreness over time. However, it's important to balance the benefits of massage with adequate rest and recovery time for the body. While there is no set rule for massage frequency, a general guideline is to schedule a sports massage once a month to support overall health and wellness. That being said, the frequency of massage ultimately depends on individual needs and goals, and it's recommended to consult with a qualified massage therapist or healthcare professional to determine the best approach for you.
  • How soon after my massage can I get back to my fitness routine?
    The timing of when to resume training after a sports massage largely depends on the individual and the intensity of the massage. Generally, it is recommended to wait at least 24-48 hours before engaging in intense physical activity after a sports massage. This allows your body time to recover and adjust to the changes made during the massage. During this time, it's recommended to engage in light activities such as walking, stretching, or gentle yoga to aid in recovery. It's important to listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard too soon after a sports massage, as this can increase the risk of injury.
  • What should I wear to my massage?
    When preparing for a sports massage, it is recommended to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. This will help ensure that the therapist can access and target specific areas of tension or injury. Depending on the specific needs of the massage, it may be necessary to remove some clothing to provide access to certain areas of the body. However, the therapist will always ensure that you are comfortable and adequately draped throughout the session. It is also important to note that any jewelry, watches, or other accessories should be removed before the massage.
  • Why is recovery important?
    Over time, our body's ability to regenerate new tissue slows down, which is crucial for our overall health. Although exercise is beneficial, it's crucial to prioritise the recovery stage, which is often overlooked. Neglecting this stage can lead to injuries of varying severity, hindering training performance. Regardless of training purpose, whether for a specific event or for enjoyment, recovery should not be taken lightly.
  • I have an injury, can I still have a massage?
    In the initial (acute) phase of an injury, which can last up to 72 hours, it's important to avoid massaging the affected area to prevent further damage. Once the acute phase has passed, we can then focus on helping to address any lingering pain or discomfort and assist in the rehabilitation process.
  • How can I enhance my recovery?
    Massage During physical exercise, the body undergoes continuous stress and pressure due to changes in force, direction of movement, among other factors. As a result, waste products like lactic acid can accumulate and impact the muscles. Sports massage can help alleviate muscle tension, facilitate the dissipation of lactic acid, and enhance blood flow to the muscles. These benefits aid in a quicker recovery time, allowing you to perform better in subsequent events or workouts. Rest Sufficient sleep is crucial in promoting recovery from both physical and mental exertion during exercise. Experts recommend a duration of 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to support optimal recovery. ​ Hydration and Nutrition Provide your body with adequate nutrients, including macronutrients such as protein, fats, and carbohydrates, as well as micronutrients obtained from fruits and vegetables. Additionally, staying hydrated by consuming sufficient fluids is essential.
  • How close to my scheduled appointment can I cancel or rebook?
    To ensure that our scheduling system runs smoothly and we can accommodate all of our clients, we kindly request that any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments be made with at least 24 hours' notice prior to the scheduled start time.
